Dr Edward Howell is an expert on international relations, security, and politics of the North Korea, the Korean Peninsula and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
He is a Lecturer in Politics at Christ Church, University of Oxford, Korea Foundation Fellow with the Asia-Pacific Programme at Chatham House, and a contributing writer for several publications including The Telegraph, The Spectator, and The Economist Intelligence Unit.
In his recent book, North Korea and the Global Nuclear Order, Dr Howell argues that North Korea has strategically deployed “bad” behaviour that breaks international norms in order to reap benefits.
Come along to hear Dr Howell’s view on Kim Jong Un’s ultimate foreign policy goals. Any burning questions on North Korea? Get your answers in the Q&A!
After the talk, there will be time to continue the discussion with Dr Howell and other Stubbs members in a more casual setting over a Gilpin’s gin and tonic and other non-alcoholic refreshments!
